A successful professional career in football is nowadays unimaginable without the help of external consulting! Too many things come crashing down on the players and their parents from the age of 14. The pressure is enormous. In the meantime, 12-year-olds are being screened down to the last corner of their potential abilities. In the academies you have to assert yourself against similar players for years, because only about 4% of the players from the academies make it into the top leagues. Once you have made it on the pitch, things like employment contracts, taxes, sponsors, transfer management, financial investments, insurances etc. are waiting off the field.
Everyone has to decide for himself whether he wants the support of a big agency or whether it is more important to him to have a direct personal contact to his agent. I certainly stand for the latter!
